Port Julia is a peaceful seaside destination located just off the main highway between Black Point and Port Vincent. It was first known as Curramulka Harbour as it was used as a port by the farmers near Curramulka, with the first ketch docking around 1878.
Whilst the port and jetty trade has now ceased, the town continues to be popular with holiday makers. There is a boat ramp, jetty and a swimming beach. The natural bush setting is home to a wide variety of birds and animals, and there are some great walking trails along the coastline.
Port Julia doesn’t have any shopping facilities or services located in the town, but just a short drive away are Port Vincent to the south and Pine Point and Ardrossan to the north.
Port Julia is a popular destination for anglers and for crabbing when in season (best months for crabbing are those with an ‘R’ in them).
The 1913 Port Julia jetty and goods shed still stand, and are both heritage listed.
