PUBLIC Silo Trail
Things To Do Perth, Perth, Western Australia
The PUBLIC Silo Trail is an outdoor art gallery celebrating regional Western Australia. The partnership between FORM and Co-operative Bulk Handling (CBH) Group has transformed iconic agricultural infrastructure and utility assets across the State into sites of world-class mural art. The PUBLIC Silo Trail lays the foundations for one of the State’s most iconic tourist drives.
Following the creation of Australia’s first ever silo mural as a pilot project on the CBH Group’s Avon silos in the Wheatbelt in March 2015, FORM partnered to celebrate regional Western Australia through epic murals on farming infrastructure across the State. Six murals have been created on grain silos as part of the project, brightening silos in Northam, Merredin, Newdegate, Pingrup, Ravensthorpe and Albany.
Each mural on the trail, from international street art star HENSE’s eye catching abstract mural and world-admired Phlegm’s impossible flying machines at Northam to Western Australian artist Amok Island’s banksia-inspired creation at Ravensthorpe, is surprising, distinctive and unique.
A beacon to visitors and the community and in the widest possible range of artistic styles, from Kyle Hughes-Odgers’ geometric forms and figures to the Yok and Sheryo’s larger-than-life sea dragon and Evoca1’s figurative representations of Pingrup’s agricultural heritage.
