While much has been written about some of the Gold Coast’s older suburbs, little is known about some of the newer destinations such as Robina. When Singapore estate developer Robin Loh purchased some 20 square kilometres of land west of Broadbeach back in 1980, few could have predicted how the suburb of Robina would grow and flourish.
This master-planned community boasts some of the most impressive shopping and recreation facilities in the state including the Robina Town Centre and Bond University, both build around expansive lakes which are sympathetic to the laid-back lifestyle here. A little-known highlight is the Robina Dogway Dog Park which some consider the most exciting place for pooches to play on the Gold Coast due to its innovative design with hurdles, jumps and tunnels.
For a different sporting slant on Robina, this suburb is also home to the Gold Coast Titans Rugby League Team who train and play their home games at Skilled Park – Queensland’s newest rectangular sporting and entertainment venue. Robina is also home to a railway station linking it to Brisbane, such are the benefits of being the new kid on the block.
