18 Oct 2023 to 29 Oct 2023 Annual Event
One of Australia’s most distinctive and innovative film festivals, Adelaide Film Festival (AFF) screens films you won’t see anywhere else.
Also known as the ‘friendly festival’, AFF is renowned for it’s warmth and egalitarian attitude, welcoming film industry guests from around Australia and the globe to an event where makers and audiences alike can enjoy and celebrate films together as a unified community.
Named as one one of the top 50 film festivals in the world by Variety, and winners of the 2021 Ruby Award for Best Festival, AFF has an international reputation as a film festival for ‘those in the know’.
The festival shows the very best in contemporary Australian and international feature films, documentaries, shorts, artist’s moving image and VR productions.
World premieres include screen projects made with the support of the AFF Investment Fund, which showcase South Australia itself as a centre of filmmaking excellence.
Film critic and AFF patron Margaret Pomeranz AM says: “what I really love about the festival experience in Adelaide is its intimacy. Filmgoers and film-lovers mingle on the streets, along with premiers, politicians and artists; conversations flow, everyone has an opinion, and the parties are fun.”
Three Jury Awards will be presented (Feature Fiction, Feature Documentary and Virtual Reality) and three Audience Awards (Best Feature, Best Documentary, and the Change Award, for positive social or environmental impact).
