Billy Tea Safari’s offers the only Full Day Outback Tour from Cairns! Explore the Chillagoe Caves, Granite Gorge and other highlights of Tropical North Queensland on this full-day tour from Cairns.

Your day begins with a pick up by your friendly accredited guide in a custom-built air-conditioned 4WD vehicle. After introductions and getting to know your fellow passengers, they’ll ascend the McAllister Ranges looking for many different species of bush birds, including emus, wedge-tail eagles, squatter pigeons, kangaroos and frilled neck lizards along the way to your first stop at Skybury Coffee Plantation in Mareeba for morning tea.

Travel out to Chillagoe while listening to the informative commentary by your guide who will share information about the region’s wildlife, history, and Aboriginal culture. Explore the Chillagoe-Mungaga Caves National Park with an expert local guide, travel through historic mining towns and small outback communities, see the Chillagoe Smelter Ruins, visit Balancing Rock for an amazing photo opportunity, see and learn about aboriginal rock art and visit Granite Gorge to see the wallabies. You’ll also be treated to an Aussie outback pub lunch and get a chance to leave a message on the wall of this classic Aussie pub!

Experience the best of the Tablelands with Billy Tea Safaris; exploring the high-country west of the city and sampling local produce along the way!

Travel 500 metres above sea-level and drive out of the rainforest and on to visit the multi-cultural village of Mareeba and award-winning Coffee Works for an introduction to Australia’s largest coffee-growing region. Continue on through the banana plantations, sugar cane, and through the townships of Tolga and Atherton on route to Historic Village Herberton, voted on TripAdvisor as one of the top 10 museums to visit Australia! Billy Tea Safaris is the only group tour that includes Admission to Historic Village Herberton. Enjoy a selection of local tropical fruits and cheese.

Continuing on Queensland’s highest scenic drive with epic views of the Tablelands and the Great Dividing Range, stop at a scenic lookout and also the iconic Millaa Millaa falls for a photo opportunity (and a swim!). Enjoy lunch at the Australian Platypus Centre. You might be lucky enough to spot a platypus! Walk into the rainforest to view one of Australia’s oldest trees, The Curtain Fig Tree; 500 years old. Finish the day at The Humpy Store to purchase local produce.
