Rapid Boarders run white water River Boarding Tours on two spectacular rivers in Far North Queensland. The options are a full day tour on the Tully River and a half day tour on the Barron River. These rivers are situated in the world heritage listed wet tropics area of Far North Queensland which provides world renowned white water surrounded by picturesque tropical rainforest.
Rapid Boarders is a locally owned and operated business with highly trained, professional guides and limited numbers not in excess of 12 boarders per tour, this ensures all tours are personal, and that there is more attention on customers and safety.
River boarding with Rapid Boarders is a great white water option and all essential training is provided though a basic lesson. The thrill of being in control of their own individual board puts customers in the drivers seat and will have them walking away feeling a huge rush of self achievement.

Tully River is a two hour drive from Cairns but it is worth it, they stop along the way to pickup some fresh local bananas and supply a light breakfast.
Once you arrive in the Tully River National Park their guides will gear you up with all the equipment; wet suit pants, knee and shin guards, a life jacket, fins and a helmet. Then it’s up to Cardstone waves a grade two rapid, were their experienced guides will teach you the basics in river features, how to swim through a rapid and river boarding skills. One they have you feeling confident it’s on to conquering the mighty Tully river.
The section of the Tully river they run offers up to 17 Rapids, five which are grade three and some great river surfing spots along the way where their guides will help you catch a wave.
Once you have finished on the water it’s off to the Tully Gorge camp ground to change, have a yummy lunch and even a short rainforest walk if you have any energy left.

The Barron river is only a short 20 kilometre drive from the Cairns City area.
Their starting point is in the Barron River National park just below the beautiful Barron Falls and the Barron river hydro station. When you arrive you will be geared up by their staff, in wetsuit pants, knee and shin guards, a life jacket, fins and a helmet then their experienced guides will run through a training session, which will teach you the basic in white water and river boarding that you will need to conquer the Barron river rapids.
They will teach you how to swim through a rapid how to use the board and some tricks and tips. Once everyone is confident it’s time to take on the Rapids. There are 11 Rapids in the section of Barron river they run with one grade three, “Cheese Churn” they finish off with some river surfing in “mother In-law” This tour is a great afternoon adventure that will have you walking away with a huge rush and plenty of self achievement.
